5X Bluetooth question

was looking at buying a 5X and have been carefully watching the threads about the issue with Bluetooth connectivity. I would be using the watch with an iPhone 7 running ios11.1 can anyone tell me if the Bluetooth issues are now sorted before I spend my hard earned?
I have done a search but can only see issues and no resolutions anywhere

many thanks in advance
  • I use 5X (6.0) with iP7+ running iOS 11.1.1 (latest stable) and latest stable Garmin Connect app and watch is always found. Now it works seamlessly. I had issues with older GC app. 5X was paired with the phone - could see it in BT settings - but I had to kill the app and run it again to start sending the data. I have never had an issue that 5X wasn't even paired with the phone. This is my personal experience. You might want to wait for other users to add their experiences. Hope it helps

helps a lot so thanks for the reply. I like the bluetooth notifications as im a stand by engineer and with my 3HR i dont have to carry my phone whilst at home as it keeps connection no matter where i am in the house in relation to the phone i still get all mails and messages etc i would be a bit upset if the 5x was a step backwards in this regard
  • I have turned off all the notifications because you cannot choose specific apps - it works only on Android as Smart Notifications - so I cannot confirm that. But I don't think I am able to walk the whole flat without the phone. At least, weather information shows an error that it requires a phone connection via BT when I'm not in the room with my phone (It could be like >10m direct air distance and connection is lost)
  • I have never had any problems with my 5x and iPhone 7s. Until yesterday when I upgraded iOS to 11.1.1 - it's been crap since. However, as the the crappiness coincided with an iOS upgrade and as there hasn't been any issues prior, I place the blame squarely at Apple's door rather than Garmin's
