Nickel-free?

Is fenix 5 series nickel-free? I have fenix 3 Sapphire to day, but will not buy fenix 5 if it's not nickel-free. I always need to take off my fenix 3 at night because of reaction to nickel.
  • Even hypoallergenic stainless steel has some nickel in it. Since Garmin doesn't specify what grade of stainless they're using the odds are it's not one that's really low on the nickel content but probably still close to jewelry grade which won't affect most people but could still be a problem for some.

Maybe contact support and see if they can tell you what the grade is or if it's any different than the F3.
  • You may be better off with the 935, which has the same internal electronics and software as the F5, but the backing is plastic.
  • I had problems with fenix3 non hr.
I dont have problems with the fenix5.
  • I find the buckles on the silicon straps give me allergic dermatitis, but the Titanium band is fine!! I actually wear the titanium band to work and the dermatitis clears up but recurs when I put the silicon strap on.

  • The same for me with silicone, I use now stainless steel one and that is just perfect. However, this is thread about nickel, I suppose stainless steel usually contains nickel, so the solution would be plastic model for those people.

Me and my friend Booth have Fenix 5x and Fenix 5 with silicone straps, we wash our watches daily with water and soap to minimize red rashes and it works. Sometime I have it on my right arm.
