THIS IS EXASPERATING! garmin, FIX IT! ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1266576.jpg
  • thank you for the feedback H0nzaB
Good to know that Garmin is workin on this issue...
Ok...any *.fit file can be the defective one - try to remove the *.fit files from folder "Monitor" (or add them first into "CompletedUploadsV3_FIT_TYPE_32.xml" described below)...

So for chong67 it seems to bee the solution (but i think you managed my instructions not completely - i'm sure you have actualy stil some defect *.fit file on your watch)
I had also problems with the *.fit files within the folder "Monitor" on my watch. You can try also to create strings for all *.fit files they are in your "Monitor" folder on your watch and past them into file "CompletedUploadsV3_FIT_TYPE_32.xml" on your PC...

If this doesn't help - you can wait for Garmin or try the hard way:

    1) backup your watch data
    2) delete the complete content of your folder "Garmin" on your watch (file in root and folder "Garmin" must be remain on your watch
    3) copy "GUPDATE.gcd" for firmware 6.0 from any beta after 6.xx in folder "Garmin" on your watch
    4) disconnect your watch an make the downgrade
    5) after then delete your watch from garmin express and also the watch folder from "C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Devices\xxx" on your PC
    6) connect your watch and add them again into garmin express
    7) make a clean sync with garmin express - do NOT copy any file from your backup to your watch

if the sync is now successful proceed with net step... if not, copy the files from your backup back to your watch according to this instructions: https://support.garmin.com/faqSearch/en-GB/faq/content/hWholZ8uPZ6PboXu5Nf7d6

    8) copy the fit files from your backup to your watch - just folder after folder in smal packages - and do after every copyjob a sync in garmin express to find it wich file are currupted...
    9) remove the corrupted files from your watch

After this your sync should be fine

chong67 if this doesn't help you, i cannot help you any furter and you have to wait for garmin... sry
  • I actually came over here to look at feed back on the Fenix 5S because I have boxed up my Vivoactive 3 and printed a return slip before the 30 day return window expires. Very similar problems and hours spent with support trying to use the basic functionality. Perhaps that gives more info to process as I am sure they have a somewhat similar platform [I realize the differences]. It certainly makes me balk at "making the leap" into an even more expensive device.
  • Chimcen There is alot of .FIT file in \TEMPFIT folder on my watch. Is this OK?

I just sync my watch and it is super fast. I will not be keeping so much .FIT files in the \ACTIVITES folder any longer. No use and it makes the sync longer for no good purpose.

I doesn't got the releation between your posting and this thread...

    @chong67
I've no files in my "TEMPFIT" folder on my watch - i can imagine that these are files (activities, courses, workouts and so on) wich are prepared from GE for sync and if you stuck in a sync error they will be remain in this folder til a complete sync is done...

If i was you - i'd compare them to the fit files in activities (and all other folders) - if they are the same (i bet they are), i'd just delete them from folder "TEMPFIT"...
    ???????
  • Chimcen Now my \tempfit folder is empty of any .FIT files There are plenty of .FIT files everywhere.

Let me do a exercise today and see if it will sync well and fast on my Android phone.

I have no more sync error pop up on the GE on the PC.

Any ideas what the \Metrics folder is about?

I had almost identical sync issues, .

  • One of your activities (or courses) is corrupted (had the same problem). Found the solution in another forum (can't remember wich one...)

    Great THANK YOU
I knew that a fit on my Edge 800 was corrupted (neither Garmin, nor Strava accepted the manual upload), deleted from device but the sync error was still there also for further tracks.
The ProgramData folder to remove was the solution.

    Thanks again.
