I don't care too much about using number of steps in measuring physical activity. I've noticed though that my Garmin 5X seems to grossly undercount the number of steps when I do a hike. When I do a run or walk it registers about 2,000 steps per mile which seems about right. Often on hikes though, it will register about half that number. I just did a 5 mile hike and the Garmin registered less than 5,000 steps. That would indicate a stride of over five feet which is certainly not the case. Has anyone else seen this or knows a way around it?
