Settings resetting, this is annoying

I'm fairly new to the Garmin world as I've only had the 5x for a month or so. I think I've seen this mentioned but I can't seem to find any posts right now. I have settings reset to what I assume are defaults for no apparent reasons. For instance, my watch face (Gearmin) settings randomly go back to default. I also try to turn on my sound notifications but at some point every day they go back to "During Activity" or whatever. Same issues with the order of activities at times. It's just really annoying. Is this a known issue and anyone have any suggestions on a remedy?

Welcome to the club. Each time I customize my watch face after few days (most lilely after synchronisation wig Garmin Express) I got default one.
  • Most probably your settings in Garmin Connect on the web and/or the settings in Garmin Connect Mobile App overwrite your settings on the watch. This is a very bad implementation of a synchronization mechanism that Garmin has implemented. A big source of confusion and trouble.

Try to change the settings on the web/app and do a sync. Hope this helps.
  • This will explain the watch settings fischest but not the watch face settings. This is a recurring problem with the fenix 5X which I recently read may be related to synchronising with wifi/PC/mobile. I read in another thread that if you stick to one synchronisation method, the watch face settings do not get lost. This fits what I have seen since I had not seen the problem for a very long time, but hit it again shortly after synchronising with both wifi and the PC. Have no seen it again since going back to exclusively syncing with my mobile via bluetooth. But I do wish it could be fixed.
  • Gasteropod, this could well be the case. I am not using custom watch faces, but some apps and their settings can be done via the mobile app. Resetting configuration sounds very much like this annoying synchronization implementation that is so flawed, that problems pops up on various occasions (alarms, control menu, heart rate settings, etc.). Hope they recognize these problems NOW at Garmin and FIX it entirely.

I could understand sync issues on settings that are shared on different devices. However, the watch face settings are only on the mobile app, aren't they? As far as I know, the settings for the watch face (again speaking about Gearmin) can't be changed on the watch so the mobile app is the only place I see to change them.
  • They can also be set using Garmin Express on the PC.

You have to do your watch settings in the cloud (Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express) and then synchronize with the watch. Otherwise it will be overwritten every time you connect. A bit annoying, but as long as you know how it works, it is not an issue any more.

As for the watch face settings reset, I have never had such problems myself. It might be also related to the given watch face you are using. Have you tried another one?
  • I have a problem too. Most annoying thing are resetting alarm clock. Once i slept-over work and was late. Also resetting settings of notifications on moving activity

Guys seriously please fix this problem..
  • Horrible code writting, but then you got all those with Master in the forum (fun dudes) giving excuses. Many things in the watch still does not work and most likely will never work, I still have the 920XT with the same bugs as day one. Just enjoy the watch as it is. Don't stress yourself with issues the watch can have.
