Auto lap x Running training session (bug?)

Should the interval training session not automatically shut off the auto lap during the session? In my watch it kept working, it was a mess of laps of distance and time mixed.

The laps (1/2, 4/5, 7/8, 10/11, 13/14) should be one (5 minutes interval), the rest time is correct (2 minutes).

Is it a normal behavior and I have to remember to turn off the auto lap manually, at every training session, it's a configuration that I forgot to do (or that I did), or it's a bug?

  • It seems to be a departure from older models where a training session would prevent any auto-lap settings from taking place. I also have to enable/disable auto-lap according to my schedule, keeping it disabled if my day calls for a 10' warm up, to keep it all in one big lap, but rather enable it if my training is 10km + some strides, so those 10km are splited every km (and I can re-use the same workout regardless if I am going 10, 8 or 12km)
  • It's a change from previous devices. It's a distinct plus if you're using Garmin to plan all your workouts, including things like maybe 10 miles slow, so you can set it up quickly. I actually stopped managing my training that way a while back, because it was so tedious getting everything right and it wasn't all that flexible for distance. So me, I quite like it, and I'll probably set up a RunIntervals app which duplicates the main one, except with autolap off. (I already have a secondary Run app configured for using Stryd).
