Wahoo Kickr & Fenix 5x

Hi

Currently I have a Fenix 5, and a little disappointed that connecting my Wahoo Kickr via ant+ drops out etc. and that this is a known issue.

Does anyone have any issues with their F5x?

I can still return my F5 and pay the extra for a 5x, but wondering if this is worth it or just refund the whole thing.

  • Wahoo Kickr works fine with my 5X. No dropouts.

I read on Stryd forum that Fenix 5 is plagued by Ant+ disconnection and signal stability problems and due to this it's not in the Stryd device compatibility list.
Fenix 5x is NOT affected by the the above problems.
  • If you're getting regular drops at about 90-100 second intervals then it's a Kickr problem. Since they added FEC control as well as their own protocol, the two interact and clash every 90-100s which the watch sees as a signal dropout. You can 'fix' it by rolling back to an old Kickr firmware that doesn't include FEC (I think 1.3.38). The Kickr guys have known about this for ages and claim they're working on a fix but I'm not convinced. (presumably they could just turn off the old Kickr protocol as everything seems to support FEC now anyway!)

    Mine is the Snap.
With FW5.40 it was ok but now with FW 6.00 I have to go to settings AFTER I have initiated the activity (in my case Indoor Bike) ant manual connect the power sensor.
It does not automatically connect nor stay connected. When I start the activity it is not connected. Than during the activity I go there and manually connect it...
    No disconnection after this procedure.
