Anyone got a change with new(er) F5?

Hi

Anyone who got their Fenix 5 exchanged for a new one and got a better GPS tracking, longer bluetooth range and better ant+ connection with a new(er) Fenix 5?

I've got a new one today, from A53002XX to A53068XXX and don't now if I should try it or try to sell it/send it back to the reseller. So much better gps and bluetooth experience with my old FR630, the interface is crap though.

Personally I'd love you to try the new one. Depending on how you get on, it may help me regards my poor Bluetooth and ant+ connection because at the moment Garmin aren't admitting to anything in their replies to me.

So you told the reseller your F5 wasn't working, they sent you a new one, and now you say you don't know whether to even try the new one or just send it straight back to them again.

Why? Is inconveniencing folks that tries to feed their families by selling fitness gear a hobby of yours, or do you just like to push the price up for the rest of us by wasting the reseller's resources?

  • No, that's not what I ment. I live in Sweden and don't have English as ny naive language so maybe that's why you misunderstood me.

I told Garmin that something was wrong and I didn't want the f5 because it's looks like I'm drunk on my GPS tracks, ant+ disconnections, and short range Bluetooth. And my experience before with Fenix 3 was not so good.

Anyway, Garmin replaced my watch and now I was hoping my reseller would take or replace my watch to a FR935, I told them no money needed between FR935 and f5 so I'm just trying to switch . I bought it for full price so. They won't take it back because I live in sweden..only 14 days return.

Now I have to sell it by my own and might have towait another 2 weeks before I can afford FR935. I'm not happy with my F5, if you are I'm glad for you. Do you think I'm a sick because I got a watch that didn't satisfied my expectations? Just wondering.
  • I went through the "exercise" of getting my F5 replaced, due to BT being constantly disconnected (just watch-to-phone BT, don't use any sensors or ANT+ yet). The new F5 I got from Garmin had exactly the same BT disconnect/range issue. so, it was pointless. since than, I've changed the phone (from Sony Z1 Compact to LG G6) and my issues with the watch being disconnected every 2 min even if 5 cm away from the phone is gone. The range is still too short - up to 5m.
  • Thanks AlexZ131. Then I know. It's a really good looking watch but I'm going to try to sell my new one on eBay and probably try FR935.

You're right. I misunderstood you, and with the extra information provided now it makes far more sense to me. I apologise, and hope you manage to get a lovely 935 that does everything you want it to do.
  • No apologies needed! But thanks. My English is quite limited and sometimes it's hard to express myself. Anyway. I love the look and the interface of F5. I own a old FR630 and love GPS tracking and Bluetooth is solid, but its touch interface is hard to manage so might be promising.
  • i got my F5 silver exchanged last friday. BT is probably same, but ant+ connection is better. With old watch, i had more then 50% missing RD data, now about 10%. On the box is stated revision C.
