Is "storm alert" working on your 5x?

Two days ago I increased storm alert rate to 2 mb per 3 hour to test and find the limits for true alerts and false alerts if there's any. Then got an alert but it was after I used stairs. :) Fenix couldn't track the elevation well, so that it thought pressure changed and alerted me. Like very old days of Fenix 3. But this setting is apparently more prone to false alerts with a low change rate.
Also Fenix altimeter software works in a strange way. I go down from 198m elevation to 191m. But it puts me to 230m when I go down, then corrects it to 191m. But that 230m is not recorded as a high in the graph.
Today there is a storm coming but I don't think it'll alert it. As pressure is moving very slowly.

odsweng - I tried setting it to Barometer and today... at lunch.. it beeped with a storm warning! First time ever! There wasn't one but it was a good start! Will adjust the rate now to see if can get it fine tuned!

Check the altitude change. I got some alerts but altitude was different. Also I calibrated my elevation to 198 m but it was continuosly dropped to about 191, 193 during a rainy night.

I have a same problem

I got my first storm alarm today. I do have do not disturb on during my sleep hours. I checked and sure enough the pressure had been dropping, altitude was constant and in about 2 hrs strong winds began and we had a storm. I was very impressed.

Since changing barometer profile to barometer I have finally got a working storm alarm function. So far I have heard it 3 times. So it appears to be working for me now!

There is a setting you can configure that will make storm alerts more sensitive. Either from the ABC widget or from the Barometer widget, under Barometer settings you will see "Watch Mode." There's three options here: Auto, Altimeter, and Barometer. Altimeter will assume that changes in pressure measured by the barometer are because of altitude changes. Barometer will assume that changes are less related to altitude, and are because of weather changes. The Auto setting will do it's best to guess which changes are happening. If you'd like your watch to be more sensitive to storm alerts, chose the "Barometer" setting.

Do Not Disturb should not prevent storm alerts unless they occur during your sleep window. Personally, I have received storm alerts during the day while my Do Not Disturb setting was configured to automatically enable during my sleep window. However, if you believe you are still missing storm alerts after configuring your Barometer settings, please feel free to email us and we can investigate this further. I have a question, first a little background. I was reading this forum, and specifically, this entry, when I decided to give it a try. I set the Baro in watch mode to Barometer, and left everything else as it was. Later today, it went off, and I saw "Storm Alert" on the watch. WOW, it works! (I guess). I didn't see any clouds, it was warm, etc, and actually quite pleasant. Then, later today, it went off again, this evening. So, I looked at the news later, and sure enough, there is a cold front, and approaching weather activity headed our way, not really what one would call a "storm", but certainly a change in the weather, bringing colder temps, and possible rain.
GREAT! Very pleased, but that brings up the question. If the barometer is in barometer only when in watch mode, what happens when I'm driving around the valley (Salt Lake City) where there are elevation differences of at least 100 feet, and quite a bit more if driving up the canyon toward Park City, or out toward Wendover (Bonneville Salt Flats)? Will the altimeter continue to function, but only using the GPS for elevation? Can this be explained a bit further, as I like the storm alert, although I think I may "desensitize" it a bit.

I can't find in the manual any further explination of the relationship between the two settings, so honestly I don't think I understand all I know about it, and would like to learn a bit more clearly.

My personal experience is barometer mode is usable only when I'm stable. Otherwise auto mode functions better than both barometer and altimeter, I mean it gives better elevation tracking. With other modes I get out and walk to my 2KM far school with the same elevation, although there is a lot of difference. Or it'll record altitude changes when I'm sitting in my chair. :D Then so many false storm alerts too. So I prefer auto mode. But when spending the time at home barometer mode helps with storm alert.
