No anaerobic training effect

When running I often get 0.0 in anaerobic training effect unless I do pure interval training.
Example:

This run start with a long uphill where I reach >90% of my max HR
Is it normal that the anaerobic training effect is 0.0 in this case?

I have the same result, going to try running longer more demanding routes and see if that makes a difference....

    Visca Barca! :)
  • To get anaerobic training effect it appears that you have to run well above Vo2 max pace. I did an easy with strides workout on Tuesday. The strides were 6x 30 second intervals that were essentially all out sprints. For this workout I received anaerobic TE of 2.3. Looking at the "learn more" information on Garmin connect related to your TE scores for an activity it makes sense.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1257444.jpg
  • According to Garmin science, anaerobic benefit is "a little more complicated"

Running Science | Garmin Technology | United States

Running a 5k or 10k typically contributes mostly to aerobic capacity, while the overall training effect might be VO2 max, and the impact on anaerobic capacity might be nil or limited because this is what is used for shorter bursts of energy. See the table here:
