Fenix 5S/5 - 6.71 Beta Release

Hello Fenix 5S/5 users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

Please read the 'notes' and 'installation instructions' in the 'Updates and Downloads' page found in the link below. Only the system software has been updated in this beta, but we've included the most recent versions of software for all peripherals, including text files.

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

6.71 Change Log Notes:

Added support for new activities like Elliptical, Stair Stepper, Floor Climb and Yoga.
Improved the reliability to connect to Wi-Fi networks which were setup on device.
Fixed an issue where the Hourly alert would not adjust automatically after a manual or automatic time change. (Ex: Crossing a time zone boundary.)
Fixed an issue where one could access the “Set time with GPS” option in the Controls menu, while executing an Indoor activity.
Fixed a potential issue where long SwimRun activities would seldom produce corrupt FIT files.
Fixed a potential issue where the device would persist ANT connection to a broadcasted-to device in low power, when using the “Broadcast during activity” option.

Hi, I?m using a Fenix 5 at firmware version 6 and ever since iOS 11 upgrade, Fenix 5 crashes at midnight. I?m able to soft reset (twice) each time. Does 6.71 address this? Thanks.

Adding the Vivoactive 3 apps is awesome! I was wondering if that was going to happen. This makes me want to give the Beta version a spin. Quick question though, if we are running the Beta will we get prompted for an auto-update once the production version is out?

I don't want to accidentally get stuck in a situation where I have to do some sort of manual update and lose all my user settings back to the defaults (like what apparently occurs if you need to rollback to a prior production version from a Beta).

No worries on that score, the production version will have a higher version number than this beta, and your watch will automatically update as normal. (The only exception to that is that sometimes they put out a release candidate with a version number ending in 0 instead of 1-9, and then release that to all users as production, and even then you have no reversion issues, you just have the production software a little early).

Rollback deletes your settings because there will generally be values in there which weren't present in the earlier version and may cause issues with it.

Hi....
Why is there 2 files with the same name? And why are they going in the same folder? I'am i missing something here?

The XXXX represent numbers. The file names are different.

You just released 6.00, I would expect a high version number like 6.71 to include a ton of bug fixes + features.
Otherwise, name it 6.01 because there's nothing really ground breaking here.

Fenix, above all, is a triathlon watch.
The main feature required for all the activities done in a triathlon - is a super accurate GPS.

I understand that it's easier to add a "Breathe page" to a yoga app.
But for crying out loud! AT LEAST SAY THAT YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM!

Yoga app, wow.... now I see all those ladies running to buy a new Fenix to use it during Yoga classes to meassure... what are you actually measuring during Yoga? Time? So a stopwatch would be enough? Ok got it...
btw. What does this mean? I thaught the ugly and non-logical 7-day graph for resting HR will be finally changed, but its not that...
