Bug: Bluetooth connection definitively lost after several connections/disconnections

Bluetooth connection is done (impossible to reconnect to bluetooth peripherical) after a lot of connections/disconnections.
2 cases that always generate the bug:
- Phone is connected to the watch with garmin connect. Leave the phone at the edge of the swimming pool in the bag. Do the swim session. After the swim session, watch is disconnected to the phone and never reconnects until shutdown/restart of bluetooth.
Even phones notifications are not functionnal so GCM is not in cause, it is the whole bluetooth link that is over.

- In triathlon mode, Connects a bluetooth heart rate chest, display of heart rate is ok, do the swim part, when you leave water and go on bike part, watch never reconnects to the bluetooh heart rate chest. You need to stop the activity and restart it to recover bluetooth link.

It seems that when bluetooth connection is continually connected/disconnected (at each arm stroke during swim), at a moment, connection is definitively lost and never recover.
It is not dependent of firmware, it was present on 2.4 and still present on 6.0

Please Garmin, correct this bug, this is inacceptable to not have reliable heart rate in triathlon for this watch !
Regards
  • Response today from Customer Support:

"I can see if we have a case investigating this. The problem is Garmin does not support 3rd party sensors. This means, they may work or may not work. we don't do anything to prevent them from pairing, but do not design software around support of them. The device has the BLE capabilities. However different 3rd party sensors offer their own software. The watch has to be able to read this data. We are aware of some issues with some sensors data not being read by the watch. The Polar H7 is one of these. We do have a case to investigate this. However, we do not know when or if this issue will be resolved. I have added you to the case. If this is resolved, you will receive an email with any next steps. "

When I had an Xperia Z3 (android) bluetooth would drop out every day or two and require a restart of the phone to get it to reconnect. Just changed over to an iPhone 8+ running ios11 and I've never lost connection once in the last 2 weeks. Whats more, It sends notifications through several walls over 20m distance. I have a feeling BT performance is not only about the watch but about the phones we use, probably more to do with the phones to be honest. I had a Galaxy S8 briefly and it was better than the Xperia but still nothing like the iPhone 8.
  • I have exactly the same problem as dewarner "I periodically lose Bluetooth connection with my Fenix 5S, and can always restore it by turning off Bluetooth on my iPhone and then turning it back on. When GCM says my watch is not connected, my iPhone says it is connected."
  • There have been numerous issues with the Bluetooth connection dropping within 1 meter of the phone. I loose connection if I put it in my pocket. NEVER had the issue with my Fenix 3. Has anyone heard any updates from Garmin in this regard?
