WiFi connection problems Replication failure followed by failure to connect

In the past two weeks ive had wifi connection problems. I dont use autosynch as it has corrupted data several times before so i manually sync twice a day via WiFi
I replicate and appears to replicate OK then fails. Subsequent attempts at replication give immediate failure to connect.
I switch the watch off and try again and the same sequence occurs. Replication failure followed by failure to connect.

I logged a problem with Asia Support but got zero response.
Last week it occured for 3 days and then solved itself and it just started working again.

Today the problem has started again.

Synching via USB cable works OK.

Ive tried resetting the watch the router and my mobile hotspot. But i am wondering if there are some changes related to the new WiFi configuration options that are breaking things.
Either that or some kind of intermittent problem in the watch.



  • This problem has just solved itself again. On two different software versions (4.2 and 5.4) , two different WiFi networks and service providers , two full resets of the F5x two full local network resets. i've had Sunday - Thursday morning WiFi replication problems. First one fails, second one fails to connect every time.
    I cant link the problem or solution to anything I've done or anything in my environment. Has anyone else seen WiFi replication problems over the first half of the last two weeks? My email to support apparently got lost because they had infrastructure problems but they claim no that has no connection to my problem which is deemed closed because its gone away!
  • And in Asia we just got 7.10 SW update for F5X . Its a very rewarding consumer experience to pay full list price for a product that is manufactured in Asia and be at least 3 months behind the rest of the world in SW updates. However as an added bonus the Wi-Fi connection is broken again with exactly the same symptoms that occurred for 10 days after the last SW update. Tries to connect once. Then consistently fails to connect. Same on both Wired and mobile hotspot. Restart watch repeat.I haven't bothered to report it as support last time denied the software upgrade program and Wi-Fi connect were linked in any way . But if it magically fixes in the next week I definitely wont believe them.





  • 28 Feb 2018 Wifi stopped working. Exactly same pattern as before. Predicted software update coming.
    1st March 2018 got the APAC 7.70 update via Garmin Express. WiFi not working .
    Wifi will start working again in 3-7 days based on last 3 software updates.
    I suspect that server resources or virtual machines are reallocated to serve the download for update requests and it breaks the WiFi .
    Probably Garmin dont sell many 5x in Asia or most people use bluetooth synch so they dont care about a few WiFi users.

    Appears that exact same sequence happening with F5x in US for past several days. Kind of a pain.
