Navigating to a Destination

Hi Everyone

First post newbie user of the 5S here. I fear there's a simple answer to this that I'm missing. I'd just like to be able to use the Navigate to a Destination feature.

The manual suggests, from the home screen, Press the Button #2, the Triangle button on the top right of the device (which typically takes you to the Activities list), and then Select 'Navigate'.

My challenge is that I have no 'Navigate' option in the Activities menu! For the life of me I can't find it. I must be doing something simple wrong.

Do I need to have already started an activity in order to Navigate to a Destination? i.e. already in Walk mode. I've tried this, and I can then get to an o
All I can think of might be that I've somehow inadvertently removed the Navigate activity. If so, how can I get it back?
Also, I do already have a couple of custom locations saved. So I do have somewhere to navigate towards.

Many thanks for your help.
  • To navigate during an activity, (eg. walk mode), press and hold the menu button, then scroll down to Navigation. You can choose here from previous activities, courses or to saved locations.

To find the Navigation app, press the Start button, then scroll down to below the 4 dots, where you should be able to find the Navigation app. If you can't, keep scrolling until you find the + symbol, which will allow you to add a new app.
  • Thanks for replying so quickly.

The first option certainly works for me - Selecting Navigation during an activity.

However, the second option (which is the one I'm really looking for), I can't find. Below the 4 dots I don't have a Navigation app. Not only that, when I go to the + symbol the Navigation app is not listed there either.

Is it possible to reinstall the Navigation app from Garmin Connect?

Just a thought.. from the Garmin Connect app, click the options button to the top left corner, scroll down to Garmin Devices, then select your device from the list. Then select Connect IQ Apps, then Applications. Do you see the Navigate option in there? Is it in Installed or uninstalled?

If uninstalled, you can select it and install. If installed already, might be worth uninstalling and install again?

    Thanks,
    Lee
  • Thanks Lee, however when I go to the App as you suggest, Navigate is not in either list. As far as I can see, it also is not available in the IQ App Store.

Hmmm, what firmware are you running?
