Now Not Able to Connect to iPHone

Hi,

I just recently updated to 6.00 with my Fenix -Sapphire, and now it will not connect to my phone. When I go into my iPhone settings, it shows that I am connected to the Fenix.. but when I tried to use it or add it (after I've removed it) to Garmin Connect.. it will not show up in the app. I have tried factory resetting my Fenix to no avail. Anything else I could try?

Thanks,
  • My experience is that the quality (and stability) of connection between iPhone and the Fenix 5 decreased after upgrade of iOS to 11.0. I had to turn phone bluetooth (and occassionally the Fenix) on and off approximately once a day for the connection to resume. Issue seems to have largely gone away after 11.0.1 and 11.0.2 upgrades.

Just got a Fenix 5s Sapphire and found that a short time after it is set up to sync, it just stops. My iphone shows a connection, but it is not actually connected or showing a connection in the phones notifications centre, or on the watch. A frustrating temporary fix is to go to your iphone and forget your Fenix on bluetooth, turn bluetooth off, restart you phone and then pair new on your watch and type the code into your garmin connect app. Very frustrating for an expensive watch!

    Hey guys,

Same crap on my fenix 5x. It looses connection approximately once or twice a week. Device reboot helps to temporarily fix it.

Have you seen this page? https://support.garmin.com/faqSearch/en-US/faq/content/O2rhfvdmhY6uQSUVU3Qvv8

Garmin tells they are aware and "We hope to have a permanent fix soon."
It's been about 2 month of me struggling with this issue.
  • I think the issue happens to me when I walk too far away from my phone. The Fenix reconnects to the phone but the app doesn’t pick it up. If there was a way to force resync in the app that would probably fix the problem.

For now, I’ve been resetting my iPhone and that seems to fix the problem. Not ideal though.

I confirm - same behavior with my fenix as well. It reconnects with the phone, but the Garmin Connect app can’t sync.

Same issue both for my F5 and my EDGE 520.
    I think it's a Garmin Connect/IOS problem.

I had the same problem. I used the tech support chat on here for the fix. Here's what I did -

Go to bluetooth settings on your iphone and click to your watch and then forget it.

Turn off bluetooth on your iPhone

Turn of location services on your iPhone

    Restart iPhone

Turn bluetooth and location services back on

Go back into connect app on your phone and pair the phone

Confirm that this works for me too. Had this connection issue a couple of times now and this fix has worked each time. Thanks for posting Lucifus

  • i’ve had this issue since october with my fenix 5x and iphone 7s not connecting. no problems with my ipad pro running the same ios v...
i just upgraded to the iphone x and STILL cannot get them to connect... very let down with garmin for letting this issue persist for so long on one of their high-end products. this coupled with the crappy IR 2nd gen HR feature is a huge turn off...

I experience the same issue so contacted Garmin support. After implementing steps 1 and 2 everything was back to normal...here's their guidance in full:

Please kindly perform Clean Bluetooth’s cache
    1. Go to your iPhone Settings > Factory Reset > Reset Network > Reboot iPhone

2.Launch Garmin Connect Mobile > Pair Device

Please make sure do not pair Garmin device directly from your phone's Settings > Bluetooth. If on your phone's Settings > Bluetooth there is already a paired Garmin device, please remove the paired device(You might need to turn Garmin device's bluetooth OFF beforehand.).

After you have checked your phone's Settings > Bluetooth, please go to Garmin Connect website( http://connect.garmin.com ) > left-side panel > Devices > on the device's page > click the gear icon on the upper-right corner > Remove > confirm to remove.

Uninstall and download Garmin Connect mobile app from App Store again. Open Garmin Connect mobile app then follow screen prompts to login and pair your device directly within the app
    .

    Hope this helps
