Garmin Express says I'm on 6.00 but watch still say 5.40

There seems to be a conflict, where Garmin Express says my watch is on version 6.00 (I did run through the update in GE) but in Settings > About on the watch, it still says im on 5.40 (7d762f8)
I've rebooted the watch and GE several times, with no change. I'm also not getting prompted for an update anymore. Which is correct, Garmin Express or my watch? Did I get the update or not, how can I verify?

Your watch have downloaded 6.0 but it's not installed. Go to system and software update on your watch (have swedish language and don't know the correct path) and install from watch. Same thing if you download from WiFi, you might have to enter system update and choose update from the menu.

You were absolutely correct, the watch had the software downloaded but not installed.
I manually initiated the installation by going to Settings > System > Software Update
The watch is now reading 6.00
