Tempe and Fenix 5X

Just got a Tempe and thought something was wrong as the connection would last about 30 seconds. Got a new one and same issue. So I thought maybe it was because I was on firmware 5.40. Upgraded to 5.84 beta and same issues still, even after restarting the watch.

What am I missing here? The Tempe has always been within 3 feet or less of the Fenix 5X. How do I keep the watch connected?

Currently, I go to System > Sensors / Acc and reconnect. Then I go to the main menu and scroll up to the temperature widget where it will show the Tempe info until disconnect.
  • It can take a minute or two for the tempe to connect, and then it only sends a new temperature every minute.

What are you using to connect to the Tempe? It won't stay connected just based what you see in settings. Something has got to be using it. (the run app, a CIQ widget/app, etc)

    Thanks for the response.

I just go into the system settings every time to connect - which seems cumbersome. I then return to the home screen and scroll to the Temperature widget. Once it disconnects, I have to repeat the process.

So how exactly do I stay connected? Are you saying it's only during activities.
  • If you start a run, the Tempe gets connected, and stays that way through the entire run. I have a a few CIQ apps that do the same thing. Unless you are using the tempe in an app, it will disconnect. It's all about the battery.

My "Temps" widget will do the connect when it's run, but also show the last valid reading ("valid" can be up to 4 hours) while it's trying to connect.

"Time and Tempe" will stay connected as long as it's running:

  • You do not need to manually connect. The tempe widget will eventually connect if you wait long enough. But the widget will not stay there for long either before reverting to the clock. As Jim says, during an activity, the Tempe will stay connected until you finish the activity. Again, no need to connect manually, this happens when you start the run or other app.
