Lost controls on Control Menu - FW 5.40

Odd issue: I lost the controls on the Control Menu twice today. Each time only one control remains, different from the previous one.

I have read similar issues reported on the beta FW 5.83 topic. Funny thing is that I do not have the 5.83, but rather the 5.40.

There are multiple threads about this here, and in the 5x and 935 subs.

People are reporting the issue on multiple firmwares as far back as 4.10. At this point I am starting to think that the issue is firmware-independent and has more to do with Garmin Connect syncing from their end.

Garmin has posted in a couple of places that they're aware of the issue and are actively working on it.

I have the issue too and have a case open with support.

Appears that the config file that Garmin pushes to your watch has more values (likely a step towards configuring more watch functions from the app) and some of them were (are) pushed as blank, overwriting settings on the watch.

I haven't seen any explanation or update on this from Garmin but this issue seems to be resolved for me. I have synced several times with no loss of controls menu.

Since I saw reports of this on multiple firmware versions back to 4.10, and they all started at the same time, I am guessing it was an issue of pushing out bad data on Garmin's end.
