Hi!
I bought my F5 to have a reliable platform to manage recordings and tracking of exercises, mostly running.
For me stability was a key besides functionality, ohr and battery life when making a choice of watch.
I have to say that I was very happy until FW 5.30.
At that point, for some for me unknown reason, Garmin decided to pull my option to decide when to do a upgrade, and push out what for me seems to be a beta release.
So: Does anyone know how to revert to a working FW and how to stop autoupdating or at least have the option to decide when to update?
Like a simple question:
"Update available, do You want to update?"
"Yes, Bring on the mayhem" - "No, I want to keep it working for now"
Am I asking to much here?
So what's the specific problem with 5.40?
Well, for starter my unit has become sluggish and from standby, press on start lights up the display, but nothing happens. Not always, but sporadically.
Also I'm facing issues when running on treadmill. Suddenly distance is incorrect or not displayed at all...?
Perhaps theese are not related to the fw-update, but it's a suspect....
However: My main issue is not the actual issues above. They might be fixed soon with updates.
My biggest concern is that from time to time I want 100% reliability. Well at least 90%...
And at those periods I don't want to be subject of beta testing or updates at all.
Perhaps it's during trainings and preparations the weeks before a race when I need the thing to just work and do what it's designed to do, not to introduce new features. I just want it to work!
