iPhone bluetooth issues (Paired in setting, not paired in connect app)

several times a day my Fenix 5 won't sync with the connect app on my iphone. After reset of the Phone it will work again.
In the iphone settings (settings -> bluetooth) my iphone shows that it's connected/paired with the Fenix 5 but in de Connect app it say's not connected. On the Fenix it shows connected as well. There seem to be a problem between ios and the connect app.

I tried the following things:
- Reinstall the connect app
- Deleting the Fenix 5 from the app en reconnect
- Rebooting de Fenix 5 (newest software version, but the problem was also with the older software versions)
- Deleting the Fenix 5 from the iphone bluetooth settings and the from the connect app

Can anyone help me?

Try unpair F5 from iPhone, just let Bluetooth turned on. On Android it's working like that.

I've been having the same issue with my iPhone and Fenix 5. Usually, just turning Bluetooth off and on again on the phone will correct it, but sometimes I have to restart the phone and watch for them to connect all the way again. I've tried all the same things, and haven't found a working solution yet.

I have had the same issue with Garmin Edge 510 since iOS 11.3.1 update. Here are the steps that sort of make it work....and on the rare time I don't have to do any of it and it just works like it used to (seemlessly)

    1. forget device from garmin & phone
    2. reboot device
    3. pair phone and device - it will take a long time - switch device off
    4. switch device on and it will give the pair key and click on Pair on phone
    5. If it doesn't automatically fire up the Garmin app start it and it will automatically sync and show the green light.
    6. If not connected then reboot the device
    7. If this fails - do this again and by about the 3rd time it works.

I assume the issue is with Garmin as I have no other issues with other bluetooth devices, in fact my bluetooth headphones range has improved since the last iOS update.

I'm observing the same behaviour and workaround procedure on my FR935.
  • Mine worked fine until Garmin updated the connect app, 2 updates later and it's still not working. I just think garmin are absolutely rubbish. I'm not an apple fanboy but my Mrs took her 5yr old iphone to the Birmingham store, chap diagnosed it was a problem that couldn't be fixed so gave her a brand new phone!!! My edge 800 is still going strong....no Bluetooth or WiFi on it!!!!!

I've been having this issue for weeks now. It is getting really old and irritating. Sometimes it says it is synced with my Bluetooth but isn't really. Sometimes it just isn't at all. I'm so tired of seeing the red Bluetooth not connected in my Garmin app. I didn't used to have this issue. Now I can't get my data onto Garmin connect without it being a huge hassle. I have a Fenix 3. I've tried rebooting and that sometimes works. I wish they would fix this problem.
