In Australia, bug fixes would be covered under Australian Consumer Law, so saying your Garmin device comes 'as is' is quite misleading and probably a breach of the ACL.

Then attempting to claim other devices having updates is 'immaterial' is also beside the point, and could be seen as a breach of Australian Consumer Law where a bug may be encountered that would have stopped a typical consumer from otherwise purchasing the product. For 'minor problems', you are entitled to repair. For 'major problems' (where a consumer would not have otherwise purchased the product), you are entitled to a refund from the manufacturer.

This especially looks bad if there is a known bug fix, with no APAC release and no explanation as to why.. Particularly when Garmin have claimed 100% rollout.

So, pick a bug fix, and argue that you require a repair under consumer law, and that you are aware of there being a fix as per the change log, but the manufacturer is withholding it.

As I've already mentioned, my device successfully updated via WebUpdater, so I'm not sure why it works this way but not via other channels..
  • Day 19 - 6.0 still alludes us in the Garmin Software Update ghetto called APAC. We paid more money and got less. More expensive then if you bought it in the US and the US version comes with two straps, the APAC only one. To add insult to the injury - we don?t get timely updates. We don?t get a statement from Garmin. We don?t get a path to ?give up? language support to roll with global updates. We get.....the silent treatment. We are the silent majority.
  • Strange I have the Asia version of my fenix 5X (says so on the box) and I am on version 6 which is the latest stable release. I was offered this update trough Garmin Express on my computer about 1 week since it came out (around the time it was announced in the forum about 100% Global roll out) but not on my phone in Connect Mobile. You guys who have this issue are you trying to update trough your phones? If so try the computer instead. This 21 day delay you guys speak of I have not noticed. When Garmin announces a 100% Global roll out I have always been able to update my fenix 5 to that new version trough Garmin Express on my computer. Perhaps this is a regional thing? I am located in Sweden. Perhaps it is worth trying to use a VPN connection and place your IP in Europe or the US and see if you suddenly will be getting a update trough Garmin Express.

What's with the misleading subject? Can someone in Garmin explain this to us? I'm suppose 100% Rollout should be the whole global am I right which including APAC region?
Again can someone from Garmin at least explain to all of us in APAC why we doesn't get the latest firmware. Even installing beta, nothing happened when we copy all the files onto our watch.

Most probably you don't have the APAC version but an asia version of ROW. "Asia version" is not necessarily APAC.

How many more days shall we wait until get firmware 6.0?
  • Day 22 - still no sign of 6.0 for APAC. I have tried every possible way to update. Mobile app, Garmin Express, Garmin Web Updater. I even sacrificed a live chicken and drank it?s blood. Still, no 6.0 for me.

LMAO! I even take a flight to London just to check whether I can update to 6.0!!
  • This thread is now getting pointless so will be closed. No one here can say when specific devices are getting specific updates. It'll happen when it happens.
