Altimeter issues

Is anybody else having issues with the altimeter? Mine will go to really high negative numbers. I calibrate and it is OK for a bit and then goes wacky again.

    Hi
I have the same issue. I think this is associated with the barometer problem. My fenix 5 barometer value is higher about 10/ 20 hPa than meteo stations near to me (about 100 mt)
I called the Garmin Assistance to solve this issue. I'm still waiting.

My barometer is about 10 milibars higher than F3 altimeter. Also I read this from other sources too. But the elevation is fine.

But last week I had a single time issue, single time yet... Watch was on charge and it vibrated, I looked at it and it said storm alert. I checked the weather and there were no storms approaching. A few hours later I looked again and elevation was about -9999 meters and barometer was almost 0 and temperature was 16 degrees on my arm. I tried calibrating but elevation was changing again. I washed the watch, blowed some air with my mount to barometer hole to dry it and recalibrated again. Now it works without issues. However, barometer is still measuring about 10 milibars higher. Maybe there were some disconnection with the barometer sensor. I've been using the watch since May and have never experienced such an issue with my watch. I also used Fenix 3 for more than a year and its barometer never had such issues even though on stormy weathers it elevated me out of roof sometimes. :D
  • My fenix 2, 3, epix and 5x are all in the same range (1004/1007 mb).
  • Mine 5x is about 10hPa higher than meteo stations. Altitude isn't very consistent but I guess it's in the method's margin of error.
