Max Heart Rate Auto Detection

In the F5 manual, in the automatically detecting performance info, it says "The device can automatically detect your maximum heart rate......The device detects a maximum heart rate only when your heart rate is higher than the value set in your user profile"

In my user profile settings I have a a value of 172

Today I did a run getting a max hr of 179 but the user profile value did not changed, it stays at 172.

does someone knows how this work?

Have a look in settings: physiological metrics: auto detection: max HR. Is this set to On?

Was it just a peak or did it remain elevated for a few seconds? I would hope that auto-detect does not simply choose the highest single data point, but rather take a measurement over a period of a few seconds.

I was above 172 for more than a few seconds.

I suspect there is some analysis of the activity as well just to check it looks ?real?. As Philip says, post a link to the activity so we can have a look. Thanks

cmozuelos The helpful folks on these forums can better assist if you share the data surrounding this issue, as the 2 posters above (keen to help) have requested. But please do not feel any pressure to share that info if you think it will compromise your personal security; that's for you to decide. For instance, I am careful not to post Garmin Connect links to a run activity that starts/finishes directly at my front door. As we're just looking at HR here, if you don't want to share the Garmin Connect activity link, you could either upload a screen shot of the detailed HR graph from the Garmin Website (click on the symbol at the top right of the HR graph when viewing the activity and you'll get a detailed full screen HR graph to screen shot). Alternatively, if your activity is also uploaded to Strava and you have privacy zones set up, then simply share the Strava activity link (people then can't see the bits of GPS track you don't want them to).

I am careful not to post Garmin Connect links to a run activity that starts/finishes directly at my front door.

In GC under privacy settings it is possible to set a privacy zone around where you live or work for example to make it easier to share activities without disclosing personal information.

Damn, how have I been missing that for so long! (all the activities I could have posted....) When did that feature sneak in to Garmin Connect? I remember someone starting a feature request thread on the GC forum about 18 months ago, so must be a relatively new addition. Back on topic, please share your activities, but do set your required privacy zones in Garmin Connect first :)

This is yesterday activity, where I was above 172 for around 40 seconds

EDIT; As I was writing this post I synced with GARMIN EXPRESS and now my HR max value in the F5 is 185

it seems that syncing with Garmin Connnect does not change the value but syncing with GExpress does.

Is this right?
