Firmware 5.1/5.3 and BTLE Footpod

Is anyone else using a MiCoach BTLE Footpod? Mine wouldn't connect this morning at the gym after the upgrade to v5.10, and I figured the battery may be dead. I tried the "reset" by reversing the battery, then forgetting the device in the watch itself (F5, non-sapphire), and it still wouldn't connect. I decided further testing at home was in order. I changed to a new battery, still no connect. I tried searching for footpod specific, then search for all, nothing would connect. I thought the thing was dead, however it is less than a year old. Then, I got the idea to try to connect to my Suunto Spartan Ultra, so I deleted it in the Ultra, and re-pair it, and it paired right away. This makes me think that Garmin broke the BTLE pairing process with the new update, but the other BTLE things I have, (Wahoo Blue SC, Tickr-X, Scosche Rhythm+) are all combination ANT+/BTLE, so I would suspect they would connect using the ANT, and ignore the dead BTLE side. Oh, and I also upgraded from v5.10 to the 5.30 through GE. Anyone else seeing this?
  • I had a similar experience with my Scosche Rhythm+ BLE pairing on 5.10; it just wouldn't connect. Oddly, when I went to a new sensor pairing and tried to add a new HR sensor, the option to search for BLE sensors had gone. I tried turning the watch off then on, but no joy. I then tried the forced reset (hold power button down for 20 seconds until the watch turns off, then turn on again), that cleared things and the BLE pairing with the Scosche worked again and the option to pair with BLE sensors had reappeared. I've not yet checked if this has happened again with 5.30, but if it has I'll fire an email off to the Fenix beta email address.
  • Thank you Crispin! That worked, and now I have my MiCoach working again. And, more importantly, I don't have to buy another one especially for the fenix.. :-) 'Preciate the help..
