Does the new firmware upgrade help with ANT+ BLE connections at all?

I have had my f5 for about a month now and at first everything was perfect, including pairing up to my stages power meter. I was getting my new cycling vo2 max after my first couple of rides. My f5 was and still is working perfectly with my stryd, stryd on right foot ,watch on left wrist. But after 2 weeks of bliss I had a notification on my f5 that my power meter battery was getting low, seconds later my edge 1000 said the same thing. I have installed a new battery in my stages and according to my multimeter the battery is fully charged. Also the stages app on my phone says the battery is fully charged. My stages connects to my phone, edge 1000 and 910xt but will only connect to my f5 when their virtually touching together. As soon as I stand up the f5 looses connection. I started googling my problem and then I found a very disappointing amount of literature about poor connectivity on the f5. This seems to be highlighted when trying to pair with stages which has a poor reputation for transmission.
In the time that I have had my watch I think I have had a firmware update and I'm wondering if the timing of this update coincides with my inability to connect my stages to my f5. I have sent an email to Garmin regards this, had their automated response that repeats what I have sent but I'm still waiting for a reply.
If it is firmware related has anyone experienced an improved ANT+ BLE connection after installing the latest v5 firmware?
Many thanks,
Si
