Why are the recovery time and vo2 metrics, virtually all the important performance metrics, only available if you run or bike there are so many sports that this info applies to that I feel cheated as an indoor rower that I can not access any of these metrics. If it were not for Erg IQ this watch would be virtually useless for my needs. If Polar ever gets there indoor rowing together with something like Erg IQ I am switching back as I find there performance metrics superior to Garmin. Just my two cents.

Because the formulae that are used to estimate recovery time and VO2 metrics have been derived from research for those sports. Bear in mind that the only 'true' way to measure VO2max is in a lab using a gas analyser. Outside of that, formulae have to be developed that can be used to estimate VO2max without analysing gas. Even in labs, most VO2 tests are done on treadmills or stationary bikes, unless there happens to be a rower or gear suitable for that sport.
Thank you for the reply, I understand your "argument" about the performance metrics but Polar has a very respected formula that can be applied to different endurance sports with the +/- accuracy taken into consideration. I would prefer knowing my performance metrics as less than 100% accurate than having nothing at all which is what I have with my ?700 Fenix 5s sapphire.
