I wonder, is this Watch Alarm issue that hard to fix? How shameful must be to be named GARMIN, sell a premium watch with 600$ which is unable to set an alarm on the watch that syncs with the cloud service!?!

You've been tinkering with these betas for so long and for what?... to give us flashlight?

Pfff....
  • The problem lies within the Garmin Connect platform, not the watch software. As GC is used by many devices, changes there require more testing.

Although as I understand it, if you update your GC phone app to the most recent version, the most recent alarm (app or watch) will prevail. Can't personally vouch for this, as I don't use the alarm feature.

Do I need to care where this lame issue lies with Garmin? I have a 600$ watch which can't be set an alarm on. But it has the newest firmware with a flashlight and the recently updated cloud service.

Garmin, is it that hard to make this watch set an alarm without using a phone or a computer?
  • There's a clear solution for this issue, I've stopped creating alarms on my watch - I create them in the Garmin Connect app and it syncs immediately.
Why not use this solution? (It's even more convenient than just clicking endlessly on the watch's buttons)
  • If you create alarm in app . When you reconnect again f5 because will be disconnect between f5 Vs mobile phones you will lost like alarm, 12/24h clock etc

The point being, look for a solution in an updated version of Garmin Connect, not in the firmware for the watch. Given your original comment was about version 5.10, this is worth noting.

But I agree, 5 months past launch, it is WAY time Garmin addressed this issue.
  • It's clear that both the Garmin Connect server software and the device software need adjustment to enable 2 way sync. Agreed that it's frustrating that it's taking so long to resolve this, but I guess the complexity of updating the Garmin Connect server side and multiple device softwares (it's not just the Fenix 5 series that's impacted by this) is not a simple 5 minute code fix and probably needs extensive testing before passing on to the public (even in beta).

I am surprised to find that there are people who don't consider ridiculous enough to set a mere alarm on a 600$ watch except with the help of an Internet connected computer or phone, plus a hi-tech cloud service. Funny! And no wonder Garmin did nothing to fix this in half a year, already!

I'm not quite understanding this disappearing alarm issue. I believe my 5 shipped with version 2.40 and I've loaded all beta's soon after they came out. I've never had an issue with alarms disappearing and I really on my watch alarm every day. I set my alarm from my watch only so Is this isolated to a few units, phone os, garmin connect?

This was not a concern with the Fenix 3.
Garmin is one company, they should sort themselves out!

I agree that this is something that they should sort out.

this issue only appears if you enter in the Garmin Connect settings parameters of your watch. The next sync will overlap your alarms without any notification. Next day you will not funny with this for sure.
