Not syncing and not connecting to phone

I am almost at the end with 5X. When I first got it, it synced very easily stayed connected to my phone. Now it won't stay connected to the phone and it only partially syncs to Connect app. It is not connected to my phone more than being connected. Why pay $850.00 for a smart watch that doesn't act smart. If it is not connecting to my phone that it is a dumb watch. Come on Garmin, my Fenix 3 worked flawlessly and effortless, the 5X is a struggle to get to work correctly. Fix it now. Life should be easier with technology not more difficult.
  • What does Garmin Connect Mobile tell you, when you take a look at it?
Does it show that the Fenix is connected? Can you manually synch the watch with the phone?

I have my Fenix 5x for a bit over a week now and I have it connected to my Nexus 6P the whole day and so far I didn't experience any problems with the connection.
Also, when I get out of the BT range and come back a bit later, the watch and smartphone reconnect immediately.
Auto-Sync also works flawlessly so far...

Have you tried to unpair your phone and the Fenix and then pair both again?
  • My 5x does this from time to time. Reboot phone and watch normally solves any connection hangs. I have had to repair them once.

I guess make sure your firmware is up to date on the 5x too.
  • I am really starting to hate Garmin, I sell them everyday and fix customers problems. However I have to restart sync at least 6 times just to get it to work.. Should not have to restart phone and watch after spending $850 for a watch. Today the only way I could get it to sync was through Express with the cable..COME ON GARMIN ENGINEERS FIX IT

Still experiencing too many drops on Bluetooth connections with my Nexus 6P and/or Polar H10 HRM.
Firmware 5.30 does not fix the extremely poor Bluetooth capabilities of this watch.
My Forerunner 935 (supposed to be a very similar hardware at least for the Bluetooth antenna) is super stable instead.
Very disappointed for a watch I paid 899 Euro in Italy.
If somebody can provide some suggestions on how to fix it, it's highly appreciated.

Just for reference I'm attaching a printscreen of the HR chart I'm used to get on every single workout (Polar H10 paired with Fenix 5X via Bluetooth).
Please take a look at the red chart below and tell me if it's acceptable.

  • I have the Fenix 5x and an Iphone 6s Plus and have had the same issue for the past few weeks. Up until November, I've never had an issue with the watch syncing with my phone, and now, the only solution that works is to restart my phone. Stopping bluetooth and killing the application don't seem to work anymore - the watch just continues to say "Waiting for app" - even though it's connected through bluetooth and notifications come through.
