Stuck on discarding/saving. Not counting distance over GPS.

I've been using last official software release. Everything was ok since last week - I went for a ride and after some time I observed that my distance is 0.01 KM. Tried to stop activity and run again but watch was frozen on discarding screen for more than 5 minutes (actually I tried again for many times and even after night it was not completed). I tried the same with running - but received the same situation. What is interesting - segments distance was counting down so I don't think it's hardware issue. So I didn't wanted to restart my device to factory settings and I installed newest beta release - WOW - it fixed problem .... for 4 next activities :( Now again rides/runs distance is not calculated (is calculated when doing pool swim) , watch is frozen on discarding/saving of any activity (even pool swim).

I'm pretty sure that hard restart would fix the issue but I don't want to loose all my settings and data - any advice ? Maybe delete segments? I'm taking triathlon in next 3 days so I'm a little bit confused.. and it's not first issue with this crappy watch.
  • Had similar issues with my HR3 - the only way to solve it was a hard reset

I had a similar problem at the weekend (had had the problem before on a previous release and a hard reset resolved it). This time I did a run which saved ok . I almost immediately tried to to a strength activity (gym) and it wasn't recording any calories. Tried to save it and it locked up. Forced a restart and then did a swim - same result. Deleted all activities apart from the earlier run and did a manual restart (i.e. through the menus) and did another run and it was all ok and has been for a cycle ride this morning. So it might be possible to recover without a full reset just by the combination of deleting activities and restarting the watch

As a followup my 'solution' was only temporary. It re-occurred and got progressively worse until it was ocurring after every activity. This morning however restarting the watch and deleting all old activities did not resolve it and I had to do a factory reset. Seems like not a very common problem could it be a hardware problem (dodgy flash memory or something)?
