so i set the milestone foodpod in the settings of the watch to Speed - Allways and Distance Allways. i made sure the footpod was connected went on a run. but my Fenix 5 still used GPS instead of footpod. do i need set gps to off? i wanted to use the speed/distance from the pod but still capture the route i was running. any advice?
just went for a run with the pod. Kept disconnecting from my Fenix 5. I am however impressed by the data. Things like Ground Contact time , distance, pace were within few percentage points off compared to the Fenix 5/HRM-run and that's without calibration. For 30$, Can't go wrong.
I've tried it with various 5.x FW versions and never got it to work. It pairs and connects fine, but the data is never used no matter what settings i've tried. I also got frequent re-connect messages during a workout.
Resurecting a bit of an old thread.... I am loking for a foot pod as we get into the Winter treadmill season.
I'm trying to decide between the Milestone Pod and the Garmin Foot Pod (not the RD one). I am typically Garmin throughout...but have read good things about the Milestone until I beghan to read connection issues here.
I have a 5S Plus, and the pod will mainly be usded to track accurate treadmill data (pace, distance) as the teadmills I use are badly calibrated. I still will use GPS/accelerometer outdoors... for now. I also think the cadence on the watch is ok even indoors. It's pace and distance that suck on the treadmills in my gym.
Do both/either Milestone or Garmin foot pods display realtime data fields on the watch?
Finally, I'd love a Stryd but $200 is not in my ballpark :-)
Anyone with recent experience? I read newer firmware fixed all connection issues so I am just looking for more recent experiences.
The 5/5S Plus do not have the sensor connectivity issues that early 5/5S sometimes encountered, so you should have no problems with either pod from that perspective. The last time I tested things on both my 5 and 5 Plus, if I paired with my RunScribe pods’ Bluetooth transmission I got speed/pace from the pod but not distance; whereas if I paired to the ANT+ transmission I got both speed/pace and distance. So, the Garmin SDM4 foot pod only does ANT+ (so can’t talk to your phone) and the Milestone only does Bluetooth (so you my not get distance from the pod on the watch). On balance, if having the foot pod working reliably as expected with the watch is your priority, then get the Garmin pod. But, if you really want the other Milestone features only available through the Milestone app, and not so fussed about it working perfectly with the watch, then jump that way.
