Garmin Connect - Workouts not syncing with fenix5S

Hi,

Right now I am not being able to sync new workouts, created in Garmin Connect, with my fenix5S via wireless or cable with Garmin Express.
No error happens when the sync is done and apparently everything worked at expected however the workout is not displayed in My Workouts in the watch.

Can this be a server issue from Garmin Connect or an issue with my watch?
  • I have the same issue. It appears in the Garmin Connect App but does not sync to the watch workouts or watch training calendar
  • Workouts are specific to an activity type eg. running, cycling, etc and the relevant app. You may want to check that the activity type in the workout in consistent with the app - it won't be listed in the My Workouts section on a different app.

Not sure if same issue, but I noticed the workouts only sync if I open the specific workout on phone app, then press the icon with phone and an arrow top right of the screen, select watch from list and done, then return to workout list and wait the phone syncs with the watch. After this it usually appears on the watch workout list.

Not very intuitive and quite frustrating when you have a lot of workouts to update but has worked so far.

Good point. Having created the workout and have it listed on Garmin's servers and your phone app, you actually have to send the workout to the device (that is the phone icon with the arrow you mention).

I had the same problem and now I understand how it works. There are two different syncing processs:

    a) The main process sends info from the watch to the cell phone (via bluetooth), or from the watch to the computer/web server (via usb). This sends the info collected by your watch your activities data, calories, sleep data, heart rate, ...
This process starts automatically or by pressing the sync logo on top right of main screen of GConnect.

    b) The second process sends info from the GC Mobile to the watch (bluetooth) or, from the computer/web server to the watch (usb).
This sends the workout sessions created by the user in the phone or computer to the watch.
This process starts by entering in each workout session created and pressing the arrow/phone icon.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO WAIT A WHILE UNTIL THIS PROCESS FINISHIES. I used to press the icon (b) and as it does not show you progress, i pressed the icon of the main process (a), so it interrupted the syncing process b to start process a, causing the problem.

    I hope this helps.

Tried this on my Fenix 5S, but unfortunately without any luck, the workout is still missing in my watch after syncing using the arrow icon and waiting for a while.
Has anyone an update on this?
  • Thanks you so much :-) It is working now :-)
