any impact or compression on the device?? I had a previous model with the similar failure (showing extreme values for altitude, temp, and barometric pressure), I happened just after I was wrestling around with my dog and he had playfully bit onto my arm where the watch was.... Not a impact but nonetheless I was able to trace the failure back to that moment...
That's my problem too. On Monday, I will call Garmin support again because of the issues I have with the altimeter. I will probably receive another watch... I am really sad because I like Garmin but I paid $$$ to get that watch so I want all the functions to work the way they are supposed to be...
Which watch do you have? F6 have the same issue for someone?
Just got my 3rd Fenix 5s replacement for this issue. I was told (this time - not in the past) that this is due to pool swimming and chlorine build up on the sensor and that I need to rinse it with fresh water after every swim and if I do that, it shouldn't happen.
The sensor is inside the right hole, so even you wash it is difficult to clean inside. I try also to put the watch into distilled water overnight weakly to try to dissolve impurities. But nothing fail happened anyway after 6 months. So maybe clorine oxide something
But a my pool mate have f5x since 2 years with no fails in the same pool. So I was supposing was salt since I'm also a open water swimming....no idea what can be the truth
My Fenix 5s Plus died about two weeks ago, same issue. Getting a replacement, but disappointed the failure occurred. I don't think I swim that much - two times a week, three times, tops. I'll try rinsing the replacement as a preventative measure. For the $ paid, you would think the watches would be more robust
I had the same issue. Now since getting the replacement unit I'm afraid to go swimming in the pool/sea. Did your altimeter last this time around? Or the same thing happened? If it fails because of water, they shouldn't advertise it as waterproof 10 ATM.
