About the map, I checked on last night's ride (history -> activities -> map) and at the default zoom level the map was there (but too small compared to the extension of the route). When I unzoomed to make it fit (which is something the watch should do by default), the route disappeared. Yes there's a refresh problem and keeping zooming and unzooming actually didn't do anything: the map was redrawn but the route wasn't and in this mode there are no other screens: you can only zoom and pan (but I presume if I had waited, the route would have reappeared... PRESUME).

I think the F5x here is trying to locate your GPS posit and that's why the map is centered on your last known location instead of being set with a zoom level and centering that allows you to see the whole route. This is a History -> Activities. There's no need to center on the arrow with the "?" symbol (which is, as I mentioned, your last known location). I'm not looking for myself, I'm just looking for the route in history and GPS has nothing to do with it.

As of the alti-calibration with presets, I forgot to mention a little detail: once you're done you must go back to the home page. If you press but once too much the back button, you'll lap in Transition, which means NEXT activity type. Whole log screwed. Seriously... this is a must do: there is not even ONE good reason not to do it.
  • Since updating to this latest 4.21 beta, I've only used my F5X for one fitness activity with a duration of about 2-1/4 hours. However, the battery state-of-charge dropped at an alarming rate! Normally I can count on about 12 hours of runtime during such an activity. However, based on my first use after the 4.21 update I'd estimate power consumption has increased by about 300%, and I'm getting about 4 hours of runtime. Will re-test soon, but wondering if anyone else has observed anything similar? Note that power drain rate when not in an activity doesn't seem noticeably different after this update.

TermiSkater. Battery? Very good. Such a trip:

Fall from the 98% up to the 62%
    FW. 4.21
  • I am a noob so just wondering if to upgrade to beta, if there are no serious bugs. What GPS maniak revealed with 4.16 about maps was definite showstopper for me as I use openmaps too. Is reverting back easy? Except of settings are you losing anything?

What did GPS maniak reveal about maps in 4.16?

  • I haven't seen it mentioned yet, that with this beta you can't turn off Do Not Disturb mode when time of day lies between configured sleep time. Meaning, with Bed Time of 22:00 and Wake Time of 7:00 I can't turn off DND when time is 22:00-7:00. Nothing simply happens when trying to change setting in Controls menu.

This bug may have existed before, but I only now noticed it.

It was more folks not just him who were claiming drop in image quality of custom maps, like here for instance:

Rendering of the map got back to normal. (FW 4.21 B + Display Software. 2.33 )

Confirmed, I also have this issue.
  • Beta team has confirmed that they are looking into the two following bugs I am seeing with 4.21:

    1) If you stop an activity while navigating a course and choose "Resume later", when you resume, the navigation will not pick up the course where you left it but only show the distance to the starting point.
    2) The map sometimes "freezes" and doesn't redraw properly (leaving some parts of the screen empty). It can be fixed by changing to another screen and back to the map, but I have never seen it before this beta.
