Halleluja Amen! This bug have been on my nerves and prevented me form fully loving my new fenix 5 X but now I guess all will be well again! :p I knew it could not have been a function by design as someone at Garmin support claimed it was! Because it made no sense!

Now my main issue is the lack of a barometric lock function. I remember in the early days of the fenix 3 it had the same issue but that was fixed in a SW update in late summer of 2015. So it is a bit funny that the same bug comes back for the brand new fenix 5 model. please fix that as soon as possible. I want stable barometer and altimeter readings that I can trust more!

  • There's an excellent option to add the Altimeter to the CTRLs Menu.
    ...

What we need is a way to get to the MANUAL CALIBRATION with the least possible keypresses. Adding the Altimeter to the Controls Menu is a hell of a good start but now we need a way to access its manual calibration.

During an activity, if you configure a screen with the altitude graph, a long press to Up button and you access to the calibration menu for anti :-) Very handy to regularly calibrate the anti during an trail !!

I also assumed that this also true for multi-activities like swimrun ??
  • I noticed on CTRL menu sorta of "shadow", like a hand from analog clock (at 8:00) - see attached screen dump... This was also the case with 4.16beta (NB : I have also upgraded the Display to 2.33)....

  • That line at the 8 o'clock position is supposed to be there on the Controls menu. Since they added even more items to add to the Controls menu, you can select more items than there is space on the screen for. So to cope with this the items in the scrolling circle that won't fit disappear/reappear where that line at 8 o'clock is.

RHR is completely broken if you wear the watch at night now. Turning the watch off/on no longer causes the watch to set the lowest HR value it sees for the rest of the waking day as one's RHR.
My options are now 1) don't wear the watch at night and lose use of the vibrating alarm (which I don't want to do), or 2) deal with not knowing what my actual RHR is. 3) Maybe find another way around this, or the Garmin team properly decides to set RHR as the lowest value during waking hours.

I don't want to fiddle with the buttons, I don't want to access ANY menu, I just want to immediately set the altimeter to a pre-set value. We're talking of transitioning here and the watch is the last thing in your mind believe me.
There's times you get out of the water with the baro at -500m... you're not supposed to keep pressing those buttons while you're running, getting undressed, looking for the transition bags, bumping into other people and prepping your bike at the same time! :)
  • I've noticed that the map stops drawing / refreshing after following a route for a while in map view. This seemed to have been fixed in earlier firmware updates but seems to be an issue again.

  • ANyone else can confirm this?
I hadn't any opportunity to test routes so far, but Ive got a 100k event coming this week. Please.. no more map freezes :/

  • I saw this on my hike yesterday. For me just moving to a different screen and then back to map started the refresh again.
