Hello all, the barometer on my new Fenix 5x does not seem to show any change. My Casio barometer watch ( as well as the weather forecast) shows quite a bit of change.
Do I have a defective watch? Thank you for any suggestions!
have you calibrated the altimeter? The elevation is tied to the air pressure. It's a baro Altimeter.
Thank you for the prompt reply. My casio watch is also a baro altimeter with temperature - but no GPS. I was just expecting to see a similar trend (not necessarily same values).
I will calibrate the Fenix 5x now - lets see how that changes things. Thank you again for the suggestion!
Ok. A new update. Checked the barometric trend on a local weather station. The watch is showing pretty much the same. So that is good. But when the pressure goes up, or down: in the watchface the baro indicator shows flat. My casio watch shows up / down at those times. Why is the baro indicator (pretty much always) flat? Does it require a large shift up / down to indicate it?
Last year or so I had a good link from Garmin that explained the rate of change needed but can't find it now. Unless it has changed in the 5 series, the trend line is split into two halves based on the selected plot period. The slope of each half will be based on the rate of change and, yes, it needs a certain rate to actually show anything but flat. Check it sometime when a storm is rolling in. Sorry again that I cannot find the reference to the actually rate needed.
