Handbook says, that Tempe is "water restistant". What exactly is that meaning? Isn't it waterproof? As history proofs, that Resistance may fall I would have a better feeling if it would be "waterproof"....
What do you want to with your tempe? One of mine is hanging on my balkony for years (no matter which weather conditions) and still no problems with it...
I can say that mine has been through deep puddles, heavy rainstorms, mud, and shallow streams without any problems - it is about 2 years old. Unless you plan on swimming with it for long periods I wouldn't worry.
The real problem here is finding a place to put it safely when you ride the bike. In theory it shouldn't be in the bento box but somewhere out where the sun hits it because that is the temperature you feel. However... the fact it's black... I seem to remember somebody posted pictures of how he actually painted or taped the Tempe in white color. Where do you guys have the tempe when you ride?
I have the Tempe attached to a #3 S-Biner clip (~$2 US at Home Depot) and can just clip it to a good place on a bike, or my belt, jacket zipper, pack strap, etc, when walking/hiking. If you look at my "Time and Tempe" app in the store, one of the pictures is the setup.
Mines been dunked a few times as I forgot about it on certain kit. So may be BUT I wouldin't count on it.. I am pretty sure its not 100% waterproof... But for how little they cost giv it a go.. Or simply put it in a plastiv bag and seal it up good and tight would certainly work..
