Basecamp and hiking / backpacking

Bit confused here. Do you guys use Basecamp to plan routes on hikes? If so, why even bother with routeCourse and other tools? I haven't had the chance to play with Basecamp but from what I had seen it doesn't seem to be well received. What am I missing?

Last time I tried using routeCourse, my 5X crashed and I had to Restore Defaults.

I use basecamp for both my GPS and Fenix. No issues to report

I find Basecamp so troublesome and frustrating. Maybe not played with it enough.
I planned my latest hikes in GPSies.
RouteCourse is so smooth and easy if you would like to plan a route on the go in your mobile. Works really well if you can live without waypoints. No crashes for me.

RouteCourse is OK, but on the trail, in smartphone I prefer solutions offline (without the Internet). I am using LocusMap (raster and vector maps + SRTM Data) + BRouter (working in the background). I am writing the track as GPX and I am sending to the watch via bluetooth with using widgets:
