This is a display update issue, and not a charging issue. To check, plug it in for 10-15 minutes, then remove it. Plug it back in, and check what the charge status is now.

Unfortunately, it was something wrong with the watch, and the problem was so severe, that Garmin's Service replaced it with the new one.
