VO2Max is, MaxHR depends on the settings. RHR is autodetect, unless you overwrite it with a specific number (I hate the F5's RHR algoritm, so I definitely enter my own RHR). Zones will depend on which method of zone calculation you use in Garmin Connect. Strap or no strap makes no difference to autodetection of RHR and MHR - (except that the strap is more responsive that OHR, so it may detect a brief higher maximum than OHR).
