Just got my F5x and wore it for a week. Has anyone have the same problem? My wrist bone (left) is starting to turn red
  • Hi mcregal,

I am sorry to hear about your fenix 5x turning your wrist bone red. Could reach out to us directly and we would like to research this further.

mcregal, I'm having exactly the same problem! My left wrist bone hurts and is tender to the touch. I found myself constantly adjusting the watch while on a run as it becomes quite painful!
  • I had similar issues with the stock band on my Fenix 3. I switched to a NATO-style band and the problem disappeared. Exactly where a watch rides and if/what it hits (and what part of the watch hits if it does) is a fairly complex combination of the watch itself, the structure of your wrist and the band that you use with it.

I am using a two-piece NATO-style band on my 5X and have not had a problem..... whether I would with the stock band I'm not certain of, as I put the NATO style on immediately after getting it.

For whatever it's worth I sold my F3 to a friend, he is using the stock style band, and hasn't had the same problem....

You might want to try a different style or type of band -- it did the trick for me and I prefer the NATO-style anyway.
  • I feel you. I (and a friend of mine) got a hurting wrist bone from the fenix 3 HR while wearing it for running. Maybe it hardened me, but after approx. 6 weeks of using the fenix 5x I haven't experienced these issues with the fenix 5X. I think it is because the optical heart rate sensor (OHR) is flatend down now which makes the watch more comfortable around the wrist for me.

However the buttons on the left hand side of the fenix 5x skinned me two times now - one time during a difficult hike (old wound) and another time while running (fresh wound):

yeah premium sport-watch. you pay them with money, sweat and blood...

(while wearing the watch rather tight - which you have to during activities, because of the OHR - the buttons nearly hit my skin. if i bend my hands slightly backwards, the buttons will grind my skin.)
  • I had same issue (maybe) not any issues with F3 used the watchon rightarm for 1mon to let left heal. never and issue again. my personal guess is that I had it to tight thinking it would help OHRM
  • This happened to me as well. Someone on these forums had suggested that I flip the watch so that the face was on the inside of my wrist, instead of facing out. I did that (for running, not when just walking around) and I haven't had any issues of wrist pain since.
  • I had the same issue with Fenix 3 HR due to the HR sensor. I could not run for more than 1h without feeling a strong pain in my wrist bone…

With my Fenix 5 and the original strap band I had a similar problem: it is difficult to find the correct adjustment (is this the correct English word? Sorry) to avoid the watch to move without feeling pain in the wrist due to the band. Solution: changing to a more elastic Notocity band bought in Amazon (Spain).
