[Research] Access to raw data

Hi everyone!

I'm a machine learning researcher/triathlete and would like to analyze my Fenix 5 data myself using advanced statistical models that Garmin connect doesn't provide. What are my options? Is the $5.000 developer SDK the only way to get access to raw data?

If I understand correctly, the fit file contains all raw data of an activity, right? It seems that they're binary files, what's the best way to parse them? And what about health data, e.g, 24/7 HR data?

The fit SDK. There are tools there where you can see the .fit data in CSV, etc.

Using Connect IQ you can also add your own data to a .fit as user data. It all kind of depends on what kind of data you want, as there are cases where apps have been done to send data over BLE to a companion app on a phone using CIQ too.
