When I install a watchface, it will not apply, I've finally accepted that I need to uninstall everything when I have to hook up my watch to Garmin Express. Then hope when I reinstall apps and watch faces they work properly.
After some testing I found some uniqueness's that are not written in any manuals.
When you have configurable watchfaces there are two ways to push those settings to the watch, Garmin Connect (mobile) and Garmin Express. In the past, using Garmin Connect to modifying the watch settings was the norm and per the manual. When you made changes to the settings Garmin Connect (mobile) would push them to the phone without issue. Using Fenix 5x (4.10) and Garmin Connect (mobile) (3.19.1) I have found there is an issue with installing watchfaces. Now, with the same versions and using Garmin Express, if I modify the settings the watch will accept the changes though I did reset the watch to its default settings and started over for the 3rd time.
So, if you're having sync or challenges getting your watchface to sync with your watch, and you are using Connect (mobile) AND Express, manage the apps from Express only.
You may have success like I finally found through days of frustrating testing.
Having this Fenix acting improperly is very distracting when I am training for multiple Ironmans. The distractions here have me wondering if I can rely on Garmin supporting my Ironmans or if there is another company who can. I spend ALOT of money in training and competing.
