How do I read this elevation screen?

What's the difference between the blue and green and all the numbers?
  • Green is what you have done on the course so far. Blue is ahead of you.
The elevation numbers give you the maximum and minimum elevation of the course.
The green up arrow figure is your cummulative ascent to current postion.
The blue up arrow is the cummulative ascent from current position to end of course.

That picture looks much nicer on the computer screen than the watch. The blue arrow up looks black on my screen and it makes it look like the number 1 due to proximity to elevation number.

So when I have say 1571 ft left, with the arrow up it looks like 15711 where the last 1 is really the arrow. I think they need to move the number a bit to the left to give more space or change the arrow so its thinner or something to more clearly distinguish it from the number one.

Thanks for this. Let me see if I understood correctly.

I'm starting at 348 feet and ending at 54 feet. Per the image, I'm about half way through and have ascended 1,318 feet. (That seems odd to me.)

I still have to ascend 101 feet to get to my destination. (Also seems odd).

Also, does the 2.37 miles mean distance remaining, distance traveled, or total course?
  • Well the interpretation is right. Numbers may seem peculiar but do recall it is cummulative ascent so lots of ups and downs (even small ones) add up.

I see what you're saying on cumulative ascent steps but seems really odd here. Just looking at the graph and what I've covered va what's remaining the numbers seem grossly apart. The shape of the graph doesn't even match these numbers. Wish it just said net values instead.
  • I have to agree those numbers don't look right. I have not noticed any numbers on mine in the past that would be out of the ordinary. Come to think of it though I have only used a course successfully once out of three hikes with my F5X (it doesn't like it if you start the course after you have started recording/miss the start; as posted elsewhere). I will pay close attention on my next hike (Lea Valley on Wednesday).

thanks, i'd love if you could post back here with some feedback afterwards.

It should also be noted that the green numbers are altimeter based, while the blue ones are predictions based on map information. This may account for part of the discrepancy.
