Skin rash from silicon Fenix 5 band

I have used fenix 3 for almost two years with silicon band or the original leather band without any issues. I used it 7x24. Since the end of April I have the Fenix 5. I is smaller and it should be more comfortable but I got a skin rash from it under the silicon band on my left wrist. I don't know if anyone has any kind of issues like this. I am a little bit disappointed. I may order the leather band and use this one only when exercising.
• I saw in a related thread there is a Garmin contact for this: [email protected]

Perhaps they will send you a new wrist (but you will have to send your old one in and you will have to pay the postage even though this is not legal now in some countries).

Thank you, I will email them.
Even if they replace the band it is hard to believe that the other ones are from a different quality rubber. They look the same in the pictures.

I had the same problem with my band. After trying a liniment against skin-fungus it?s solved.
i think we have to lift the watch from time to time, so the skin has a chance to dry.
• Same here. This never happened with my Fenix3. I switch wrists...
• Had the same problem with the yellow band of the Fenix 5 Sapphire (no problems with the black band)

I'm a new user of the Fenix 5S & have developed a very similar skin rash. First time for me ever with any watch. Switched hands but with same result. Cleaned out with disinfecting wipes but no improvement. Very disappointed with a premium smart watch like Garmin. Any suggestions from the forum?

Go for an aftermarket band or ask Garmin for a band replacement.

I too had a rash, but it was me having it too tight.

Thanks! Have written to Garmin and looking for another band as well. I haven't worn it that tight but will try loosen it up a bit.
• I got the skin rash and it was simply because I was having shower with the device and soap was sticking to the band and then irritating the wrist.
Since then , I take it off before shower and just wash the band to make sure it is clean before wearing the watch again. No issue in months

My two cents' worth: the watch and band will collect sweat and dirt, including bacteria, all the more so because of their use for sport activities. I take mine off twice a day on average and rinse both band and watch and have no issues. Learnt this the hard way with my fitbit surge. It's not much work and probably better not only for the skin but also for band and back of watch.
