Skin rash from silicon Fenix 5 band

I have used fenix 3 for almost two years with silicon band or the original leather band without any issues. I used it 7x24. Since the end of April I have the Fenix 5. I is smaller and it should be more comfortable but I got a skin rash from it under the silicon band on my left wrist. I don't know if anyone has any kind of issues like this. I am a little bit disappointed. I may order the leather band and use this one only when exercising.
  • Got it even worse here. No known allergies, not too snug fit, didn't get that from 2 years with Apple Watch. Also awaiting leather band - hopefully that will help
  • I had the same... With a 3rd party band now it's clean... ?!?
  • No issues for me, but then I switch wrists at night. Left wrist during the day, off for a shower unless the fenix is grimy, then onto the right wrist at night.
  • I have the exact same issue. Started after a run with my 5X (rubber band); I have been wearing watches for years without any sort of issues.

I have since seen a dermatologist- my other watches also give me a red sort of rash now.....
  • Wear my F5 also 24/7 with the original black silicone band...no problems til now.

I can imagine it could be a problem with sweating - i would consult a dermatologist.

I ordered the leather band from Amazon. I had the one for Fenix 3 before and I liked it. Hopefully it will be better. It should be easier to swap. It will take two weeks to ship here - Turkey.
My wife has the vivosmart hr plus and she also uses it 7x24 and she does not find it very comfortable.

It may be because of sweating, I think the Fenix 3 band had bigger cutouts and it was more breathable. My skin tends to get irritated from sweat.
  • I have the same issue. Never had this before with Fenix 3 or forerunner 630.

The quality of the rubber bands seems to be different from the previous generation of devices. I had no issues with the Fenix 3 bands and my wife was happy with the previous vivosmart hr band. The hr plus and Fenix 5 have similar quality rubber and both irritate the skin.
  • Fitbit had a similar problem back in 2014 where a lot of users got skinrash from the siliconeband they used on the Fitbit Charge.
