I just received my new Garmin fenix 5X Sapphire in the mail and it is a great looking watch. Unfortunately I am going on vacation abroad (Turkey) tomorrow and I want to try out the map related functions. But I have lots of stuff to do in preparation for my vacation so will not have enough time to study all the intricacies of the mapping function. So I need a quick crash course from you experts in here.
Were do I find maps for this thing? I have the Asian version apparently so not pre-loaded with European maps that I need to later use it in Sweden. So need a good map source for that!
Is it possible to have genuine satellite imagery of an area loaded in the watch? Ideally I would want a double layered map of the area I am at one being a street map with POI and the typical tourists sites marked out layered on top of the satellite/aerial one. I also want to be able to disable the street map layer so that I only have the clean satellite one exposed. Another scenario is that I want a topographic map with altitudes marked layered on top of the satellite one. Is it even possible to do these sort of things? Would be really cool if it was!
Is there a way to quickly just calibrate the altimeter based on the altitudes given in the topo map? Would be cool if it was!
Were do I find and download these maps? I will be staying along the Alanya/Antalaya tourist coast in Turkey so need satellite, street and topo maps of those areas. How do I install and prepare the maps to use it in the watch?
Is it possible to create a hiking activity with a regular screen showing stuff like speed, distance, GPS and barometric altitude,, TEMPE temperature and time of day and then also just with a push of a button switch to the map view showing my position on the map and then I will have the ability to zoom in and out and move around on the map and then also enable and disable the different layers? Perhaps I am asking for to much out of this device at this point?
Hopefully a kind soul in here can help me with these sort of things to help me save time!
