Don't know if it is same question, but is there any possibility of deactivate the turn by turn indications? It shows the text so I can't see the map for a while.
Thanks
Same problem here. When I'm hiking, I upload a GPX route to my watch and just want to see the route overlaid on a map, I don't want constant reminders where to turn left and right. I've tried setting the hiking Routing options to "Direct Routing" but I still get turn-by-turn directions.
The only way to turn them off is to turn off all alerts on the watch. A member of the Garmin beta team told me that they're "looking into" adding the ability to turn them off, but that was several releases ago, and nothing yet.
How many hikers want to have GPS devices that are constantly beeping at them? According to Garmin.... all of them.
I have the opposite problem! I don’t get turn by turn notifications at all anymore. I have to keep an eye on the map and ended up missing a turn yesterday. It used to always work but just stopped even using the same routes that worked before.
I get no turn by turn notifications while hiking a course using the 5x...just " on/ off/ course" alerts on follow course. same course on the fenix 3hr.....and bingo!....I get turn by turn directions!....my Fenix 3hr is more useful in this instance. If I choose Hike and follow course, there is no TBT. If I choose Hike and use map, I get TBT but also get hundreds of blue pins saturating the course plot on some of the courses made in GC and worst of all, it actually changes the course making the function next to useless for me.
I struggled to find the Use Map and Follow Course options. I finally found that if you go into Run or Hike or .... - Run Settings - Routing - Courses - you can choose “Use Map” or “Follow Course”. The “Use Map” provides turn by turn directions the “Follow Course” has zero turn by turn notifications.
