TBT notification on F5

I used F3 for more than 2 years now, and I use the f3 for navigation very often. I plan my course on www.gpsies.com, also include my own tbt notification (water, refresh station, top of the hill, turn warnings etc.). After export from the webpage to TCX I use the TCXtoFIT converter from Runningbadger to convert the TCX to FIT file. This FIT I put to the Newfiles folder on the watch (www.gpsies.com ->TCX export -> TCXtoFIT converter -> FIT file to watch). And everything is working fantastic.

I have a question, if you create such FIT file and upload it to the F5, are the tbt notification working in case you select navigation on selected course?

OK, I tried today with 2 different long courses (-/+ 8.5km) today with the Running activity and it works like phoglund describe it. First the symbol and meters left before waypoint and then the waypoint when you reach it.
But I don't have a description of the waypoint itself like I saw in a video for the fenix 3 !!! By the way, my waypoints descriptions was edited accordingly in GPSies...
Can someone confirm this work also on the Fenix 5 ?

The first courses was create on the GPSies website and the other was create directly on Garmin connect website.
@ capinoha -> So it means it's possible to create a TBT course on Android on Garmin connect and after synchro it will be available on the watch !
The downside is it's not possible to edit the waypoints on GC, they are automaticly created.

I've only seen the possibility to show the description as separate field in another datascreen.

Thanks phoglund, I found the data field with waypoint description. FYI it's limited to 9 caracters.

Accually I can get 16 characters visible if I put 'Next waypoint' in the middle of a 3-field datascreen.

^^ Because you have a fenix 5X I suppose because the best I can have on my F5 with the same data field config as you is 10 caracters... (which is no so bad finally !)

Or how fit file is created. For instance GPSies cut at 10 char when exporting. Need to put in more char when creating fit.
But as you said, doesn't matter so much.

Ah ! Didn't know or suspect it was GPSies who was cutting the char ! Thanks for the info.

I take the tcx from GPSies and use FitFileRepairTools to convert to fit. In FFRT, I can edit course point names to be longer before saving to fit.

Ok, now I understand ! I use TCXtoFIT converter to do the job and the parameters are "basic".
10 char are better than nothing but a few extras are welcome to avoid too much "cutting" in the words ;).
I will try this tomorrow and see if worth the "pain" using another soft in top of the rest ! Shame that Garmin didn't implement the way points in Connect itself. It will be much easier.

Wow, FFRT is not cheap ! Don't know if it's worth it just for a few char more...
