4.12 Change Log Notes:
  • Added support for viewing distances to Golf hazards and course targets. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAceo_zxe6M&en-us=)
  • Added support for viewing smart notifications on Varia Vision.
  • Added support for new Heart Rate related last lap data fields.
  • Improved the altimeter and barometer locking mechanism for water sport activities.
  • Fixed an issue where the device stopped recording position information to the FIT file, if a user accessed the widget loop in an activity, while using a Running Dynamics Pod.
  • Fixed an issue where the device was unable to sync if a LiveTrack session was currently active.
  • Fixed an issue where the user might see a blank black banner while navigating a shorter course.
  • Fixed an issue where a storm alert could occur after saving a pool swim activity.
  • Fixed an issue where strange characters were appearing on the map for Abu Dhabi.
  • Fixed a potential issue where the device would snap the user's track to nearby roads on the map.
  • Fixed an issue where strange characters were displayed when viewing Strava segments.
  • Added support for Treadmill Calibration. When saving a Treadmill running activity for the first time, you will be given the option to enter the distance that the treadmill recorded. This will improve the accuracy of the distance that the watch records during future treadmill activities, and it will update the overall distance and average pace of the activity you just saved. You can also choose to calibrate when saving any treadmill activity. When you are done with your activity, stop the timer. Scroll down to 'Calibrate & Save.' Then, enter the distance that the treadmill recorded. For accuracy, these options become available when recording an activity longer than 1 mile or 1.5 kilometers.
  • Fixed an issue where the device was unable to process large GPX files.
  • Fixed an issue where large values for ascent could overlap each other on the elevation plot page.
  • Fixed an issue where a FaceIt CIQ watchface would flash, when transitioning to the watch face. (Requires Display 2.31)
  • Fixed an issue where Sunrise and Sunset times were showing invalid values on a CIQ watch face. (Requires Display 2.31)

Thanks finally altitude working on my favorite watch faces. One thing I'm waiting on is routing/course/use map that seems to hang on calculating for short or relatively long course (15km) but with patience finish at the end at more than 10min... If impatient then need to soft reset the watch . Follow course is instant but no turn by turn. This was mentioned in forum.

Is this something that is / will be looked at or there is an explanation for it that I missed to see?

    Thanks
  • I had a scare in that I started an activity, and the watch reset after pressing the lap button! But it seems that it was a one off and has not done it again since.

It would be nice if Garmin could clarify what change is meant by "Fixed an issue where Sunrise and Sunset times were showing invalid values on a CIQ watch face." as CIQ watch faces have to calculate these themselves. Is this really a fix such that the currentLocation is available from getActivityInfo() without having to start an activity and then use down to get back to the watch face while the activity is running? If so I do not see any difference and I do have the associated 2.31 display firmware loaded. If not, what does it mean?

Yes, a watch face in it's normal mode can now get info from Activity.Info.currentLocation.
  • FENIX5X & Golf app

Cool, new features upcoming to the golf app :) Very good news.

    Please GARMIN :
    - add also the club management during a game and do the watch biping or vibing to validate the club used.
    - and the ability to cancel / modify / add a shot. Sometime the watch doesn't catch the swing for a drive or a wedge and it will be good to add it manually.

Continue the improvment. This watch is very impressive.
    • Fixed an issue where strange characters were displayed when viewing Strava segments.

In Spanish it still does not work well.....
  • TBT notification

Please Garmin add/enable the TBT notification in case Follow course is selected.
  • Still the same problem with strava segments. Not sync send segment with strage symbols. When I try to delete them, sometimes the watch crashes
  • Is there a downloadable 4.12 Beta for MAC as well? Really happy with the treadmill calibration option.

The beta is just a bunch of files you put on the watch. You can use windows, mac, linux or whatever. Ignore the system requirements as it's not correct.
