Garmin Tempe far better than expected but needs an alert

I bought the tempe expecting to have problems because of a few comments I had read but it's been great. When you view the temperature while in an activity, it's incredibly stable. I would love an alarm feature though, so if the temperature reaches "2c" or whatever you set, then it'd sound alarm.

Activity is okay, but if i use it out off activity it is horrible slow 90% it switches back to Watchface before i get a reading.
I want a Tempe activity without gps as gps drains accu.
  • I have made this suggestion (temperature alert) month ago in an email to the fw team, but they didn't add it...
  • Can you say any more about the Tempe generally? I'm thinking of getting one for my F5.
Are the temperatures reported significantly different than the in-watch ones?
    Thanks.

I've written some stuff on a Garmin Fenix 5x review I've started to do. Scroll down near the bottom :). Short answer, yes it's far more accurate.

The internal sensor is impacted by body temps, and I've seen it off as much as 10F from the Tempe/ambient. If you want better temperature data, go with a Tempe. I've had one for years and it's the first sensor I pair when I get a new watch.

Internal temperatures are almost never accurate when you wear it. But Tempe is accurate as long as you keep it in shade and wear with some distance from body, sunlight and close body heat it and causes higher readings.
